A Devotion To Chocolate For The Connoisseur

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

I have a few questions for you first of all. Do you like chocolate? Or does it go deeper than that? Do you love chocolate are you what is called a chocoholic? And lastly, was that attitude formed by store-bought chocolate such as Mars Bars, Galaxy and Snickers?

I posed all those questions because, if you love chocolate and all you have ever eaten is store-bought chocolate, you have a real surprise waiting for you one day. A thoroughly pleasant surprise. One day you will try gourmet chocolate and it will bowl you over. It will make you regret all those days of your life that you had not known it.

Gourmet chocolate is to a Mars Bar what fillet mignon is to a beef sandwich or what champagne is to cheap wine. It sounds as if I am running Mars Bars down and I suppose I am in a way, but I do believe that they have their place in the hierarchy of the world of chocolate, it is just not near the top and when you have tried gourmet chocolate, you will agree with me.

Learn The Way To Pick Silver Jewellery

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Silver has always been one of the top precious metals lusted after by women. Today it is just as popular as ever, if not, then more so. While silver jewellery is not as precious and expensive as gold or platinum, many people the world over use silver as their main or only precious metal choice.

When you are investing in a new piece of jewellery, you want to be sure that you are buying the genuine article. To facilitate this, all silver jewellery is legally required to bear a stamp marked - 925. This is your key to knowing the difference between solid silver and silver plated jewellery. Silver plating will tarnish quickly as well as being worn away and leaving you with a tacky piece of jewellery.

Pure silver is too soft to be used for jewellery, so it is made into an alloy that has other metals included to make it stronger. Sterling silver is the highest quality of silver and has about 92. 5 per cent purity. The alloy is often made with copper. You can buy fine silver, but this is can be damaged or scratched easily and it is generally not durable for everyday wear and use.

The ABC’s of Horse Jewelry

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

Horse jewelry, jewelry with a horse design, has fascinated people throughout the history of man. From the earliest of times, families and individuals would incorporate the image of a horse onto their most treasured possessions, which often included jewelry. Made from precious metals and gems such as gold, silver and diamonds, they were passed down from generation to generation…becoming valuable family keepsakes.

Where did this desire to put a “mere animal” on a beautiful piece of jewelry come from? Just think of the horse…it’s not too hard to imagine. The horse is an animal with a number of desirable traits…traits that we all hope we possess in our own character. What are these traits? They are:

1) The Strength of the Horse. Horses have been asked to perform man’s most menial tasks for years and years. Consider the workhorses like the Clydesdale. They can plow the fields all day long and still find time to pull those famous Budweiser Wagons. Jewelry that incorporates the horse design will exude the strength and shear power of this magnificent animal. This form of jewelry is very popular amongst men.

To show pride in one’s own accomplishments of associations, many people purchase commemorative personalized rings.

This discussion will cover different types of rings, but will examine in detail the many different options available to those wanting to buy the most popular type of personalized ring, the class ring.

The class ring is a common purchase for most graduates. This ring is most often purchased after high school graduation, but can be bought to celebrate accomplishments at the college or university level as well.

Aside from graduation year, before purchasing such an item there is much to consider. The additional options are many so one needs to be prepared before buying.

Ovals, squares, diamonds, and circles are common options for stone shape. This decision is an important one to consider, as the stone often dominates the rest of the ring.

In addition to the cut of the stone, one has to also consider the type of stone. Often times, people choose either their birthstone, or a stone that is representative of the school colors.

The metal used to form the band provides additional variety. Gold and silver are more expensive options, but many young people choose to go with a less expensive and less precious metal.

Birthstone Mothers Jewelry To Honor A Mother

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Mothers jewelry usually consists of the birthstones relating to the mother’s children. It can also contain stones that represent the mother and father as well. Birthstones signify the month in which the family member was born.

Birthstone jewelry that represents family has been around since Biblical times. A garment was worn by the temple’s High Priest festooned with stones that represented the twelve tribes of that era.

The first type of mothers jewelry featuring the birthstones of children was a piece made with two wedding bands joined by birthstones. These rings were a big seller during the 60’s and it was traditional that the stones be set from oldest child to the youngest.

Birthstones are given certain attributes or powers that have come down from age to age. The person wearing the stone is supposed to get power from it. A mother wearing a child’s birthstone is said to receive those attributes. A mother with a child born in March would wear an Aquamarine. Aquamarine is supposed to bring love and affection to the wearer who is supposed to be able to make friends easily. The mother would be well respected and liked in the community and should have many friends. Folklore also states that the child will be protected from all ill as long as the mother wears that birthstone.
